Welcome to i-nigma - the fast-track to the mobile web(TM).
i-nigma is the mobile technology that has hyperlinked Japan to the mobile internet, and created an interactive revolution - with its ability to scan QR (Quick Response) barcodes, and link them direct to mobile websites.
Just 3 years after introduction, over 90% of mobile users know what QR codes are for, and over 50% scan them regularly to fast-track to the mobile internet, for multimedia content, information and services - on the move.

And i-nigma is now going global.

i-nigma reads the 2 kinds of smart barcodes most commonly used around the world - QR (Quick Response) and DM (Data Matrix) - and decodes different kinds of data from them:

- Website link
Instantly connects to a mobile website or other internet content via an encoded URL web address.

- Encoded message
Presents on-screen message or information contained in the smartcode.

- Contact details
Decodes contact information from a smartcode to the mobile's screen, and one click adds the contact to the handset's address book.

How to use i-nigma
1. Activate the i-nigma reader.
2. Point the camera at the barcode and take a picture
3. Connect to a linked website, or read the code's contents.

Detection:
After a picture is taken, the application tries to decode the barcode.

Results:
When a smartcode is successfully detected (or its ID number is typed in), the user is connected to a website on the mobile internet if a URL is contained in the code, or its contents are displayed on the handset's screen in the case of an encoded message or information or contact details. If multiple choices are presented in the information, the desired option is selected by using the navigation keys. Clicking or pushing on the centre button will then perform the desired function.

Tip: Bar code size should be at least 2 cm. The camera should be at least 10 cm from the barcode to avoid blur due to focus problems. For optimum result, please make sure that the barcode is shown as big as possible, while the picture is still clear and focused.

If the camera is on for too long without taking a picture, then the camera is automatically paused and waits for a resume command.

Main menu commands:

News:
This function allows users to keep up to date with what's happening in the world of i-nigma, by linking to i-nigma's mobile website - providing updates on available software, services, and other news about i-nigma.

History:
To make web-links or content easy to re-use, i-nigma keeps a record of the last 20 codes scanned or entered. Each code on the list is highlighted in turn via the up/down navigation keys, and selecting Use will perform the desired function. This feature can be disabled if required, in Settings on the i-nigma Menu.

Type:
In poor lighting conditions, or if a smartcode has been distorted or damaged during printing, the code's ID number (which is usually printed underneath it) can be typed into i-nigma using the Type option in Menu. By typing in the number, the result is the same as by scanning the code: i-nigma decodes the contents of the smartcode, and connects the user to content on the mobile internet, or presents contact details or information on the handset's screen.

Update:
Selecting this option connects the user direct to the i-nigma download site, to automatically check for updated or alternate versions of the handset software.
